Neither of you wants to split up. But you believe the life you share with somebody should be lived with that person, not just spent in close proximity.
You and your partner knew you’d grow old together. You built a life together that both of you are proud of. You spend time together, go out with friends together, and have goals for your future.
Creating a connection based on the things you have in common, but still pursuing separate interests are two keys to having a dynamic and interesting relationship. But it’s easy to fall into repetitive routines after a while of doing the same thing.
Along the way, you and your partner lost sight of what was so special about your relationship. It simply became about getting through the day and you took for granted the fact that the other person would always be there. It’s starting to feel like your relationship is stuffy, boring, and stale.
Now you find yourself, still in love with your spouse, but searching for your spark.
The predictability of your life is making your relationship feel blah. It’s not that you and your partner treat each other badly, it’s just that neither of you seems invigorated by your partnership. It feels like your love has lost its romance and excitement.
Being extremely comfortable with your loved one says a lot about trust and dedication. But you had no idea you’d end up feeling like roommates with the person you love. You never predicted you’d be bored by someone who once lit up your life. And you certainly didn’t expect to wonder if this was all your relationship was ever going to be.
The two of you are happy enough now, but you want this relationship to be the best it can be.
Rejuvenation Counseling is best for those who are looking to renew the connection they had early in their marriage. Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method help couples break out of the negative patterns that prevent their marriage from growing and thriving.
You and your partner will benefit from Couples Therapy sessions if:
There are certain situations where you or your loved one might not be ready for Rejuvenation Couples Therapy sessions with Urban Wellness. These situations include, but are not limited to:
Couples Counseling is intended for couples looking to remember what was so thrilling about the early days of their relationship. Many couples find this counseling approach to be a great way to spark growth in their relationship when things have otherwise grown stale.
Counseling sessions typically last 55 minutes.
Therapy is best done with at least an 8-week commitment. We find that couples who cannot commit to at least 8 weekly sessions and meet less than weekly tend to have more difficulty in establishing a relationship with their therapist and often spend their sessions recapping the previous weeks instead of focusing on forward movement. After 8 weekly sessions, you, your partner, and your therapist can discuss the movement toward your treatment goals and whether reducing sessions to biweekly or terminating therapy is the next step.
During this initial session, you and your partner will meet with your therapist to define the counseling relationship and discuss the details of informed consent. Your therapist will gather information about both of your biological, psychological, and social histories and how these are impacting your current situation. You will also discuss the goals of therapy going forward together.
Together, in the following sessions, your counselor will use evidenced-based treatment to treat the struggles you are experiencing which includes the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy. Both of these techniques focus on helping you and your partner gain insight into yourself as individuals and the relationship as a whole.
Therapists at Urban Wellness focus on providing a safe space for you and your partner to explore the reasons your relationship is currently stale. During your work together, you and your partner will re-establish the connection you’ve been missing and infuse your relationship with a new sense of excitement.
In your final sessions, you, your partner, and your counselor will review the treatment goals to ensure you are satisfied with your therapy experience and that the work with your therapist has met your expectations. You will also outline a plan going forward so that you are able to retain you have worked on together and implement all you have learned outside of session.
Counseling is a fee for service program and Urban Wellness accepts all major forms of payment.
Initial sessions cost $195 and each follow-up session costs $170 and we recommend at least an 8-week commitment.
Urban Wellness accepts insurance and offer in network and out of network benefits. We accept BCBS PPO, Humana, and United Healthcare insurances, at their contracted rates. For your convenience, we will do a benefit check on your behalf and notify you of our in network or out of network benefits. Copays, deductibles or any out of pocket costs are due at the time of service.
You are capable of getting out of bed and facing the day without panicking. It is possible to accept the unknown about your life and move forward while feeling like you will be ok even if something bad does happen. You will be able to experience new situations without feeling terrified that something will be out of your control.
It’s true your anxiety has made you question your ability to live a full life, but that does not mean
