What The Hypnosis Process Looks Like

There is much misinformation and misunderstanding surrounding the idea of hypnosis, yet everyday we find ourselves in trance states, such as zoning out on our daily commute, falling into a reverie while listening to music, or finding yourself immersed in the world of a novel, movie or TV series. These states are generally defined by a deep state of relaxation, increased suggestibility, and the ability to hyper focus and concentrate.

During the trance state of a hypnotherapy session, the client is conscious and can hear everything around them, and has the ability to respond and remember. The key to hypnotherapy is the power of suggestion and its connection to our subconscious, which stores our every thought, emotion, and experience. In a trance, our brainwave activity is dominated by theta waves. These bring on a state of relaxation that removes any blocks to repressed memories and deep emotions. During trance, those past decisions, memories and behaviors that are at the root of mental well-being issues can be revisited, and overcome.

As a therapeutic modality, it can be a complement cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as well as eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR).You and your therapist will meet together weekly for 55-minute sessions. Therapy is best done with at least an 8-week commitment. We find that clients who cannot commit to at least 8 weekly sessions and meet less than weekly tend to have more difficulty in establishing a relationship with their therapist and often spend their sessions recapping the previous weeks instead of focusing on forward movement. After 8 weekly sessions, you and your therapist can discuss the movement toward your treatment goals and whether reducing sessions to biweekly or terminating therapy is the next step.

Counseling is a fee for service program and Urban Wellness accepts all major forms of payment.

Initial sessions cost $195 and each follow-up session costs $170 and we recommend at least an 8-week commitment.

Urban Wellness accepts insurance and offer in network and out of network benefits. We accept BCBS PPO, Humana, and United Healthcare insurances, at their contracted rates. For your convenience, we will do a benefit check on your behalf and notify you of our in network or out of network benefits. Copays, deductibles or any out of pocket costs are due at the time of service.
