UWGrows Requirements:

Urban Wellness is excited to launch our UWGrows program!

Urban Wellness has created an innovative, supportive training program for new grads and provisionally licensed therapists. We can’t wait to meet you.

UWGrows is a workplace support pathway for LPCs and LSWs. This program offers a myriad of benefits that are essential for personal and professional growth as a clinician. Engaging in UWGrows will enhance your ability to effectively support your clients, cultivate therapeutic relationships, and navigate the challenges of being a new clinician. We offer this program to all provisionally licensed clinicians at UW, from your first day, until you gain your clinical license. UWGrows focuses on (Self)Compassion, Collaboration and Core Skills. UWGrows is grounded in a commitment to anti-racist, anti-oppressive practices, areas in which we are all seeking to learn, grow and take action.

(Self)Compassion: It can be intimidating to be a new therapist. UWGrows fosters confidence in your ability to support clients effectively. You will develop a deeper understanding of your own strengths, limitations, and biases, and how self-awareness can support your growth as a clinician. We also know that counseling can be emotionally demanding. New counselors will learn how to cope with the emotional challenges you may encounter in the work, and strategies for reducing the risk of burnout and maintaining your overall well-being.

Collaboration:
Becoming a skilled clinician does not happen on your own. Collective wisdom and learning in community are invaluable resources as you grow into your role. UWGrows includes weekly group professional development sessions with your peers. Topics include transitioning to a group practice, risk assessment, ethical dilemmas, building rapport, setting boundaries, and therapist self care, to name a few. These sessions provide opportunities to build relationships with peers who are in the same career stage, share wins and challenges, and learn from experienced professionals.

Core Skills:
We know that as a new graduate, you still have some learning to do. Provisionally Licensed Clinicians receive weekly supervision and feedback from experienced Senior Clinicians as you build the necessary skills to excel in your role. You will discuss therapeutic techniques and interventions, process challenging clinical situations, and access support in developing treatment plans. This is a relationship that provides you with the mentoring and support you need to cultivate independence as a clinician.

As a clinician in UWGrows, you are eligible to receive all supervision hours required to obtain your clinical license, as well as additional support for professional and personal development through Urban Wellness.

To apply for our UWGrows program, LPCs and LSWs can email [email protected] with a resume and complete the application here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfc7QDpY8VXYEqN5wxaLZO_MTtsizfYH_nXVZlL9NK8S9DoYA/viewform
