As a First Responder in our community, you face dangerous situations, and deal with traumatic and life altering events on the job regularly. Our job is to help you bring balance and peace of mind back to yourself, to process those events, and allow you to live your life fully and unencumbered.
And if you’re a family member of a first responder, we understand the unique family dynamics and concerns that affect first responder families. Not only do we support first responders, but we also help their family members connect with their first responder family member.

Counseling offers a safe space to explore things in life that may not be working well. It is a healthy and self-caring way to work on yourself and learn better ways to handle your thoughts, feelings,and the trauma present in your work. Together we can explore your experiences, look at barriers you’re facing and find the best ways to help you move forward. We can help you manage the symptoms that are creating distress in your life, whether it be depression, anxiety, or trauma.
Sometimes life just gets the better of you. When your days are spent helping and protecting members of our community, it probably seems like there’s just not enough time or energy to take care of yourself on top of everything else. When this happens, you find yourself going through the motions of your day rather than actively living and enjoying it.
This doesn’t mean you can’t find a way to be present in your day-to-day or to slow down and enjoy the little things. It simply means you need a little guidance to learn the skills necessary to improve your quality of life. As a result, you start to feel anxious, depressed, and lonely. And while everyone faces stress at work, your friends outside of the First Responder community might not be able to truly understand what you go through. Instead of being stuck in this place, you can learn to care for yourself and concentrate on the things in life you truly value. We can help you as you process stressful or traumatic events and help you find coping mechanisms to move forward and live your life fully.

Urban Wellness is a multi-disciplinary counseling center. Every therapist who works here practices a different specialty and is trained to meet the unique needs of the people in our community. We strive to provide well-rounded care to all who live in our neighborhood. Each therapist tailors their approach to you and makes a point to meet you where you are in the healing process. We can find the counselor who is the best fit for you and your current concerns, and if not, we can refer you to another therapist in the community who can.
