Have questions? Urban Wellness wants the therapeutic process to be transparent, so that you know what to expect, and that you feel comfortable. We understand that talking to someone new can bring up feelings of fear and uncertainty for some, so we hope that these questions ease those feelings and bring a certain level of readiness and comfort to seeking help with any one of our therapists at Urban Wellness. Do you accept insurance?
Yes! We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, Humana, and United Healthcare. We will check your benefits and let you know at your first or second session of your benefits. If you would like to know before your first session, you may call your insurance as well.
We are happy to bill your insurance for you if we are out of network. If we are out of network, you will pay our rate at each session, and we will send a claim to your insurance company. A check from the insurance company will be sent to you if a payment is due to you. It is important to check your out of network benefits so that you know what your policy will cover for out of network benefits. We will check your out of network benefits as well and let you know.
How do I cancel or reschedule an appointment?
You may always call or email your therapist to cancel or reschedule an appointment (email is their [email protected]). Our office policy is that all cancellations and reschedules must be 24 hours before the scheduled appointment to avoid a fee. Late cancellations and no shows have a $145 (our full rate; $170 for initial sessions) fee that is charged to the client. Insurance cannot be charged for this fee.
What approach do you use in counseling?
Each of our therapists utilizes their own methods and strategies for counseling. We have a Registered Art Therapist, a Board Certified Dance and Movement Therapist, therapists that use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectic Behavior Therapy, and a clinician who uses the Gottman Method for couples therapy, for example. If you are seeking a specific method, please notify the intake line, so that we can place you with a therapist that utilizes those methods.
What are your office hours?
Private practices typically don’t have set hours. Our therapists work by appointment only, and each therapist sets their schedule. Some work days only, some work nights and weekends. We have therapists that work each day of the week, including Saturdays, Sundays, and nights. If you need a particular time frame or day of the week, contact our intake line to discuss this.
How long are sessions?
Each therapist utilizes different strategies to help you achieve your goals, and as no two people are the same, neither are anyone’s goals and rate of progress. It is difficult to place a finger on how long the counseling process takes, as it depends on each person’s history, level of motivation, and the work they put into it. Therapy isn’t alway easy, but it can be rewarding!
What are sessions like?
In the first session, your therapist will have you complete our New Client Packet and discuss confidentiality as well as take your payment. Then your therapist will begin to hear your story and learn more about you and your goals for therapy.
The second and third sessions are typically a continuation of your story, getting to know you, your strengths and growth needs. We will form goals that are objective, meaning they will be specific, you will know how to reach them, and what life will look like when you reach those goals.
From that point on, sessions are tailored to meeting your goals, with check ins on how you feel progress is being made, changing or adding goals, and helping you feel life satisfaction.
