Relationships

It’s true, you’re busy and life is way more complicated than it was when you were in school, but you’re starting to feel like being an adult means being isolated and alone or in superficial relationships.

Who knew being an adult would be so lonely? That you’d have more friends when you were nine than you do in your thirties and the few relationships you do have would be so hard to maintain.

You’re a friendly person. Whenever there’s a chance to get together and have some fun you’re usually up for the occasion. You usually enjoy spending quality time with friends, family, and partners, but it seems more difficult than it should be for you.

Hanging out and having someone to call used to be a lot easier. But now it seems like everyone has something else they’ve got to do. Or even worse, they make plans and don’t follow through.

You’re starting to see patterns in your life where you’re always the one reaching out and never the one who gets what they need. And it’s not just your friendships, you can also see times in your romantic life where your needs came last in the relationship. Lately, you’re starting to wonder if the reason you’re missing out on meaningful connection is you.

So here you are, frustrated that the only time you feel in touch with anyone else is when they want something from you.

You totally understand having obligations you have to fulfill. But you didn’t expect to have such a hard time making new friends or keeping the ones you already had. You never thought dating and being romantic would be so difficult.

Life is OK right now and you’re happy, but you’d love to have a few close relationships to share it with.

When You Come to Urban Wellness for Help with Your Relationships

Who Benefits Most from Relationship Counseling?

Relationship Counseling is intended for anyone who may be feeling unheard within their relationships, those who feel as if they’re just going through the motions, or people who find themselves getting hung up on past relationship pains.

You will benefit from Relationship Counseling sessions if:

There are certain situations where you might not be ready for Relationship Counseling sessions with Urban Wellness. These situations include, but are not limited to:

If you are currently experiencing a severe mental illness, we recommend you seek outpatient services at a local program like Thresholds. If you are currently experiencing substance abuse or dependence, please see our other specialized service.

What The Relationship Counseling Process Looks Like

Relationship Counseling is meant to help you identify the things that are important, so you can begin to live a satisfied and fulfilled life. Whether it’s with partners (both past and present), colleagues, family or friends, our counselors can help you start to grow healthy relationships and improve your ability to communicate your needs effectively within your relationships.

You and your therapist will meet together weekly for 55-minute sessions. Therapy is best done with at least an 8-week commitment. We find that clients who cannot commit to at least 8 weekly sessions and meet less than weekly tend to have more difficulty in establishing a relationship with their therapist and often spend their sessions recapping the previous weeks instead of focusing on forward movement. After 8 weekly sessions, you and your therapist can discuss the movement toward your treatment goals and whether reducing sessions to biweekly or terminating therapy is the next step.

What Will You Pay for Counseling?

Initial Sessions

$195

Follow-up Sessions

Counseling is a fee for service program and Urban Wellness accepts all major forms of payment.

Urban Wellness accepts insurance and offer in network and out of network benefits. We accept BCBS PPO, Humana, and United Healthcare insurances, at their contracted rates. For your convenience, we will do a benefit check on your behalf and notify you of our in network or out of network benefits.
