Who Am I?

Hello hello! My name is Tina and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with adolescents and adults. As a Chinese American, I know how hard it is to balance the expectations at home and in society, while also feeling responsible for more than just ourselves. Sometimes, we might even be pushing ourselves to keep going because we can’t afford to stop. As we figure out what’s in store for us in life, let’s look at all the options available and celebrate all the little wins along the way! I’m here to help you find direction and grow into the person you can appreciate and love.

I love working with:

  • Adolescents struggling with anxiety, self-esteem, acculturation, coming of age, school issues
  • Adults struggling with life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, family issues, relationship issues, stress, work-life balance
  • People trying to navigate new environments and opportunities, balancing school/work/life, relationships, acculturation, and new freedoms

Some of my favorite approaches include:

You can expect to see me use DBT, CBT, IFS, Multicultural approach, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness. I know this sounds like a lot of letters thrown together, but we’ll break it down step by step and integrate what’s necessary in our sessions to tailor it to your needs. You can expect to hear me try to bridge the gap between what your emotions are saying versus what your brain is saying. We’ll collaborate together to see what we can do that best suits you.

HOW I HELP

I believe the therapeutic relationship is the foundation of meaningful change, and I prioritize building trust and connecting with you. I understand how challenging it can be to articulate feelings or navigate difficult situations, which is why I strive to create a calm, nonjudgmental space where we can explore at your pace. It’s okay to stumble, experiment with words, or make mistakes—this is part of the process as we work together toward healing. I approach every situation with attention, sensitivity, and respect for your cultural background and personal experiences. Above all, I hope our work together fosters growth, laughter, accountability, and self-compassion, empowering you to find justice and peace within yourself.

Beliefs section

    • I believe that we are made up of our values and experiences.
  • I believe that everyone is doing their best with what they have.
  • I believe compassion and curiosity opens doors for us to grow from the very things that once caused us pain.

What it’s like in a session with me

Feel free to lean back with your favorite beverage, because I’ll be holding my water bottle, eager to hear how you’re doing and what’s been going on! I love hearing all the little details and all the things that you noticed, felt, or even hesitated to say or share. You can expect us to share a few laughs here and there, because therapy doesn’t always have to feel heavy, even when we’re talking about difficult things. Sessions with me are a mix of reflection, exploration, and collaboration as we learn about what’s been on your mind, and we’ll uncover patterns and find ways to move forward. I’ll always be considerate of your pace while I challenge you and offer insights into what I’ve noticed. It’s important to me that you feel heard, understood, and never judged. My hope is that you leave each session feeling a little lighter and motivated, more curious about yourself, and empowered to take steps towards the life you wish to grow towards.

More about me

Outside of work, you’ll find me taking walks with boba in my hands and chatting away with friends or family. I love hanging out with people that energize me while doing things that are fun. I am a huge fan of cozy video games and watching competitive games as well. Not only does it help unite people that have been a part of my life that are far away, but it gives us something to laugh and have fun with too! I have so many hobbies like crochet and knitting – I want to continue to explore everything the world has to offer.
