Who Am I?
Hello! I am Megan Brady (she/her). I am a Licensed Counselor and Art Therapist that works with people ages 12 and up. We all need the time and a space to be seen and heard. I provide a safe, supportive space where you are welcome to explore everything on your mind and find ways to get unstuck. I am a cisgender white woman, a parent, and an “outside the box” thinker.
I love working with:
- Grievers of all ages and those experiencing medical issues
- Teens and young adults with loss, anxiety, anger, depression, and other life challenges
- Parents who want to show up differently for their family
- Adults who need help with the above things, along with parenting
Some of my favorite approaches include:
Art and Expressive Play, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, CBT, Grief Work and Persistent Grief Disorder Therapy, Mindfulness, SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Experiences)
HOW I HELP
I use a relationship-based approach to identify your strengths in order to start where you’re at. Together, we will identify needs and challenges in order to determine the goals for therapy. Using a variety of creative and structured interventions, we will build upon strengths and interests in order to create positive change. I have experience in providing counseling and art therapy for a wide range of needs and settings, including school, bereavement, trauma, behavior management, and child and adult medical settings.
I believe that change and loss are normal parts of life, but that doesn’t make it easy! I provide a safe space to express feelings creatively and gentle guidance to make sense of the experience and integrate the loss into your life. I believe that it helps to have someone in your corner, to sift through the hard stuff and celebrate the small wins. I believe that there is no “one size fits all” approach to life and that creativity can be an asset in learning to get unstuck and solve problems.
What it’s like in a session with me
Come on in and get comfortable. Let’s check in and get started. What do you need today? A place to talk and be heard? Time to work through emotions creatively? With kids, we will typically start with a plan so we can include a combo of creative, fun activities and structured approaches to help us work towards our goals. I aim to use a collaborative approach when working with parents of my minor clients to support, guide, and encourage through the process. I don’t expect anyone to sit still, but you are certainly welcome to if that is what you need today. If meeting via telehealth, have a comfortable, private space available. You are still welcome to create during sessions when we aren’t in the same room! Walk and talk sessions welcome (18+).
More about me
Outside of the office, I’m an explorer – both in the city and throughout the world! I love discovering new adventures with my energetic little ones, family, and friends. I’m all in on trying new things, getting creative (and messy!), exercising outdoors, petting every dog, and drinking too much coffee along the way.
