Hello! My name is Lauren Barry, I am a cis-gender caucasian woman.
I work with teens, young adults, and older adults looking to have a better understanding of themself and who they are in their world. I am excited to work with you through challenging life transitions, traumatic life experiences, and identity development. Together, we will understand your stressors and triggers while developing the best strategies for you to use if feeling overwhelmed. I firmly believe in acknowledging success regardless of how big or small and will celebrate the successes with you throughout your mental health journey. I hope to meet you exactly where you are at and work towards achieving your therapeutic goals!
Traditional talk therapy, DBT, psychodynamic and expressive interventions all within a person centered approach to the therapeutic space! I believe that each client is unique with their own set of unique traits, and therapy should be tailored to their specific needs. I encourage collaboration with clients so sessions can be just as unique as the individual who is seeking treatment! I keep fidgets, coloring pages, and bracelet making supplies handy for any client interested in keeping their hands busy while their mind does the tough work.
Take control of your well-being—request a session now and our Intake team will confirm your appointment.
Request an AppointmentTherapy is built off of trust and mutual respect. It is my job to earn your trust within the therapeutic relationship and build off of a rapport in a non-judgemental space. I work hard to ensure the therapeutic space is comfortable and safe as we work through the challenges of change. I ask that you show up as your authentic self (as it feels comfortable) so that we can work towards and stay accountable of your goals. Through therapy, you will develop skills to manage stress, challenge your comfort zone, and understand your own needs better.
Therapy is all about working through emotions, experiences and thoughts that may be uncomfortable. For that reason, I always provide fidgets, blankets, and stuffed animals for any client that would like a little extra comfort. I welcome you to bring what you need to session, whether that be your own fidget, a nice up of tea, or a coloring book. The best work will come from comfort in the space we will work so hard in. I might quote song lyrics as if it was philosophy.
When I’m not at work, you may find me at a restaurant trying a new dish, outside on a nature trail, or watching a movie. As a self proclaimed “movie buff” I love checking out new releases or re-watching my favorite 70s horror films for the millionth time. I have 2 cats (who also really love when I watch a movie) and would definitely describe myself as a wacky animal lady as I try to help any little creature I find. I hope to meet you soon!
