Who Am I?

Hello! I am Jolanta Jarosz McNamara. I am a CIS gendered, first generation woman of European ethnicity. I am a clinical therapist that works with adolescents, adults, couples and families. I am fluent in Polish so if that is your language preference, I can provide you with support in a cultural context as well as in the language of your heart.

I love working with:

  • Teens with anxiety and depression.
  • Adults struggling with anxiety, depression, life’s transitions and the complexities of life.
  • Trauma survivors that want to process and move beyond their traumatic experiences, including first responders that experience trauma on a daily basis.
  • Couples and families that are trying to work through their relationship issues.

Some of my favorite approaches include:

In addition to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, focusing on the cycle of your thoughts, emotions and behaviors, I also utilize Solution Focused Therapy, helping you address specific issues, identifying and focusing on your strengths and addressing any obstacles so that you can achieve your goals.

If you’ve dealt with trauma, anxiety, panic attacks, post traumatic stress, disturbing memories, nightmares or triggering events, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an option that I’ve successfully utilized.

HOW I HELP

It is my belief that our relationship is critical to your success. My therapeutic style is empathetic and supportive, and I will do my best to help you find your inner strength, highlight your resilience and empower you to develop a tool kit to help you deal with the challenges that life brings to us. It is my goal to help you live your best life and be your best self.

I’ve also had a previous life in the world of Information Technology in a corporate environment so the stressors and the lack of a work/life balance in the business world are very familiar to me. Having firsthand experience in major life changes I can be your guide on your journey.

Beliefs Section:

I believe that therapy should be the ultimate safe space to examine where you are right now, what brought you here, what works for you, what doesn’t, where you want to go and a plan for how to get there.

What it’s like in a session with me

I want clients to feel comfortable in session so connecting as people is part of my approach, along with laughter and occasionally shared life experiences. We all have our own story along and our own perspectives so we’ll focus on what you want and need in your life and help create a path for you. With couples, your relationship is my client so there’s no assigning blame or debating who is right and who is wrong.

More about me

I’m a passionate traveler and am always planning my next adventure. Spending time and sharing new experiences with family and friends is very important to me. Photography, pottery, reading and bingeing on British crime or mystery series are also on my list for down time.

I also spend time as a volunteer with the Anti-Cruelty. Society, chauffeuring my two therapy dogs to visit nursing homes, children’s museums, hospices and anywhere where they can bring their own brand of therapy to bring people joy. I’m also an officer in my community club and enjoy connecting with neighbors through a weekly newsletter.
