Who Am I?

Hello I am Jill Patano (she/her).

I am a cisgender, white female. I enjoy working with people 18+ experiencing OCD, anxiety disorders, exploring gender transition, sexual orientation and identity formation including cultural, religious, or just figuring yourself out! Through my own anti-oppression work I hope to bring that lens into therapy for all clients and focus on systems that affect marginalized groups within the therapeutic space and society.

I love working with:

  • OCD, anxiety (general anxiety, panic, social anxiety, socio-political anxiety)
  • Gender and sexual orientation exploration, LGBTQ+ community
  • Perfectionism, stress, low self-esteem
  • Religious, cultural, or general identity development

Some of my favorite approaches include:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), motivational, emotion centered, exploring core beliefs and values.

HOW I HELP

I can help identify the behaviors, patterns and systems that might be holding you back. I believe in non-binary thinking and aim to help you see how some patterns and thoughts can keep you in the same place too long. Exploring your world and who is in it can be important in developing your whole self as well.

What it’s like in a session with me

Sessions with me can be conversational, open, directive and encouraging. I like to focus on positives you are experiencing in therapy and also understanding the struggles. We may come up with goals for the week (particularly with OCD/ERP work) or be open ended and experience the process. I enjoy learning from my clients and connecting through laughter and stories.

More about me

I love reading and visiting libraries all around the area, watching TV (especially anything “behind the
scenes”). Fall is my favorite time of year, and I am all about anything pumpkin or apple or cozy. I spend
time with my family and friends and involving myself in LGBTQ+ and mental health advocacy work.
