Hi! I am Annabelle (she/hers) and am a therapist that works with adolescents, teens and adults. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, struggling to process your feelings, questioning your identity, or just feeling stuck, therapy can be a place to slow down and make sense of what is going on. Together we’ll make space for both the deeper therapeutic work and the realities of everyday life, whether it be something big, small, or something in between. We start where you are, and move at a pace that feels right for you, exploring your patterns, experiences, and emotions along the way so we can better understand what you need and how to support your goals moving forward!
I am a CIS gendered, White woman.
My primary orientation is CBT-informed, talk therapy, person-centered approaches, strengths-based approaches, psychodynamic concepts, and mindfulness. I value helping clients understand both the practical skills that can improve daily life and the deeper patterns that shape how they relate to themselves and others. As every client is different, I try to tailor therapy to the individual, rather than relying on a single approach for every client. I believe therapy should be collaborative, and I am always open to exploring approaches that resonate with you.
I seek to create a non-judgmental and affirming environment for you to feel comfortable showing up as your authentic self. My work is grounded in multicultural, anti-oppressive, and socially conscious values, and I recognize that our intersecting identities and lived experiences shape our mental health. I’m committed to supporting clients from all backgrounds, religions, sexual orientations, and gender identities. While I may not have all of the answers, I believe we can work together to create a space where your emotions and thoughts are respected, validated, and understood, while working together to discover what growth looks like for you.
I believe that our identities, relationships, culture, and lived experiences are essential pieces of the therapeutic process. Growth often comes in cycles, unfolding over time, working through moments of discomfort and reflection, and learning to meet ourselves with curiosity and compassion, instead of criticism.
I want therapy to feel like a safe and welcoming space where you don’t have to have everything figured out before you walk in the door. While professional boundaries are important for the success of the therapeutic relationship, I also believe therapy should feel genuine and human. Depending on what you need, sessions may focus on current stressors, processing emotions, identifying patterns, or building coping skills. I encourage you to make yourself comfortable in session, such as wearing comfortable clothing, bringing a comfort item, or anything that helps the space feel more relaxed and safe. At the beginning of treatment, we’ll work together to create goals to guide us through the therapeutic journey. This journey is yours to take control of, I am just here to support you through it as we figure things out together, whether that means slowing down, taking breaks, or just starting wherever feels easiest. Therapy is meant to feel like a conversation, not something formal or intimidating, and we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. For children and adolescents, I typically meet with the parents/caregivers to understand what is going on from their perspective. Throughout treatment, I will check in with caregivers periodically to ensure we’re all working toward shared goals.
Outside of work, you’ll probably find me trying a new coffee shop, reading a new book, or hanging out with my cats and partner! I am also an avid concert goer, and I probably have tickets to at least one show at any given time. I enjoy spending time outside, especially when I can take my kitty out, as he decided he was an adventure cat recently. I recently moved to Chicago from North Carolina, so I’m excited to get to know the area and try all of the fun things the city has to offer.
