Who Am I?

Hi! I am Amber (she/hers) and am a therapist that works with teens and adults. Together, you and I will go together on the lazy river ride of therapy. Together, we will look at patterns, challenge belief systems, learn more about who you are, and create new narratives. I live for the tea. Yes, give me a show and tell with receipts.

I am here to meet you where you are, celebrate your wins, and the good, the not so good, and the little moments in between.

I am a CIS gendered, second generation, South Asian and Hispanic woman.

I love working with:

  • Teens struggling with anxiety, depression
  • Young adults struggling with life’s transitions
  • Adults just trying to get through the day
  • New moms adjusting to finding their identity

Some of my favorite approaches include:

Traditional talk therapy, CBT, psychodynamic practices, person-centered therapy, mindfulness, and Shadow Work. My approach is warm, direct, and humanistic. Everyone is different, so my approach with you will be built gently, with time and compassion.

HOW I HELP

I seek to create a non-judgemental and affirming environment for you to feel comfortable in your self expression. As a therapist, I am an advocate and ally to those who are LGBTQIA+, Trans gendered, or just trying to figure out life’s mysteries. I emphasize a multicultural, anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and social justice oriented therapeutic setting. If you don’t feel seen or heard in this world, this space is for you. I may not have the answer to every question, but we can find solutions, ideas, and creative methods together.

Beliefs section

I believe our identities is a large piece of what helps make everyone unique, and where we come from, our pride, feelings, and emotions are valid, important, and deserve to be heard, no matter how they look, how they sound.

What it’s like in a session with me

While building a relationship and maintaining professional boundaries, I find it important for my clients to feel comfortable in a session with me, whether that is taking their shoes off in the office and sitting on the floor, upside down, or laying on the floor. You being comfortable in session is important. A typical session with me looks like bringing in your drinks in to session– your needs come first!– and getting comfortable while delicately setting the pace for our session. We will discuss your week, your thoughts and feelings from the week, and then slowly work into our goals and skills.

More about me

Outside of work I am a huge nerd! I love to read books, comics, and graphic novels. When I am not reading books by RF Kuang (Currently reading Katabasis), I can be found playing video games on my nintendo switch– I enjoy role playing games and am a self proclaimed “cozy gamer.” I live with two cats, Kittu and Oni, and love to explore the city of Chicago with my friends and family! I am old school with books and love a hard cover to my kindle, if I can help it.
