Who Am I?

Hey there. I am Nozi (she/hers) and am a licensed social worker who works with anyone needing some support during the ebbs and flows of life. I lead with a culturally conscious, person-centered, and strengths-based lens to create a space where you feel safe, comfortable, and able to show up as your full self. I see therapy as a collaborative process—I’m walking alongside you, not leading from above. You are the expert in your own life. I can’t fix or solve things for you, but I can help you understand what may no longer be serving you and support you in making changes that feel meaningful and realistic for your life. I believe in meeting clients where they are, which means being attuned to your needs, gently challenging when it feels helpful, and knowing when pushing isn’t what’s needed. I am a cisgendered, second generation, Middle Eastern American woman.

I love working with:

  • Teens building confidence and developing into autonomous, self-assured individuals
  • Emerging and young adults exploring who they are, what they want, and what no longer aligns with them
  • Adults navigating life’s challenges while balancing responsibilities, relationships, and daily demands
  • Big emotions connected to grief, trauma, relationship struggles, life transitions, identity exploration, and uncertainty
  • Distress that is impacting daily functioning, motivation, or the ability to manage everyday responsibilities
  • Overwhelming symptoms related to mental health diagnoses or challenges with psychiatric medications
  • Coping strategies that may have once felt helpful but are no longer supporting your growth or well-being

Some of my favorite approaches include:

My therapeutic approach is integrative and grounded in psychoeducation and evidence-based modalities, including psychodynamic theory, CBT, DBT, and family systems theories. I also hold a 40-hour ICDVP Domestic Violence Certification, which informs my commitment to creating safe, supportive spaces for trauma processing, empowerment, and healing. I’m also a  Certified Shame-Informed Treatment Specialist (CSTS) certification which further supports my commitment to shame-informed practices.

HOW I HELP

I strive to be intentional about how I show up for clients and the kind of environment that supports authentic, ethical practice. At the core of my approach is creating a safe, collaborative space where clients feel seen and heard as they explore patterns, defenses, and experiences that may no longer be serving them. I bring curiosity, humility, and integrity to my work, and I remain committed to ongoing self-reflection around bias and privilege to ensure client-centered care.

Beliefs section

I see therapy as your time and space, and you have the right to shape it into what you need. I recognize how difficult it can be to make the decision to seek help, and I don’t take that lightly. I focus less on just the content of what you’re saying and more on understanding what you’re truly trying to communicate. My hope is that even within that, you’re able to find value in this experience and feel supported, even when the process feels overwhelming.

What it’s like in a session with me

The first few sessions are focused on helping me get to know you, your experiences, your story, and what’s bringing you into therapy. From there, we’ll work together to create a treatment plan with goals and objectives that feel meaningful and aligned with what you want to work toward. You can think of it as our North Star that is a general guide for the work we’re doing.

That said, just like people, therapy is fluid. The treatment plan isn’t meant to be rigid or something we’re strictly tied to in every session. It simply helps me better understand how to support you and gives us a shared sense of direction. I’ll check in with you along the way to make sure the therapeutic relationship feels helpful, and to understand if there are any gaps, adjustments, or improvements needed.

More about me

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my rescue Chihuahua, as well as with family and friends. When Chicago weather allows, you can usually find me by the lakefront, soaking up as much time outside as possible. I’m a big fan of the Real Housewives franchise and yes, I will absolutely reference iconic moments and characters in session. I also enjoy reading historical fiction, practicing Pilates, exploring different neighborhoods, taking road trips with my dog in tow, and experimenting with new crockpot recipes.
