Heidi Kalman, LCSW

My name is Heidi Kalman. I am a clinical therapist, but you can also call me a non-judgmental sounding board, a healer of nerves and server of those who serve. I help adults, couples and families navigate through the often turbulent waters of life. While we cannot necessarily change the tides, we can change our reactions to them, and improve our own navigation skills.

Sometimes therapy gets a bad rap, because people will say “I can just go have a drink with a friend instead!” While you should do that as well, even our closest friends can often be biased. They are well intended, but they tell us what they believe we want to hear. As a non-judgmental sounding board, I am here to allow my clients to really explore what they are going through. My aim is to help you figure out what you really want, regardless of what other’s have in mind. I want to hear your story, and be there supporting you as you tell it.


I help individuals find peace of mind. Sometimes it is lost due to a traumatic event and sometimes it is lost simply because of the chaoticness of every day life. I would like to help you heal those nerves. When it comes to trauma, I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) I can also help you learn skills to better manage the sometimes overwhelming feelings of stress and exhaustion that can accompany every day living.


I often work with Police and Fire Personnel and their families. I am in tune to the unique stressors of this line of work. I have the utmost respect for the professions, and hope to provide a safe place for you to explore your own stuff as well as allow you to explore how your work impacts your life and your relationships.


I see therapy as a process where clients can really unravel and explore their deepest and sometime darkest emotions. I come from a place of empathy and want to support you through this. While I certainly don’t have all the answers, I do hope to help you find the answers you need to enjoy a more authentic and content life.


While I rarely bring religion into my work, I do approach life with a sense of spirituality. I enjoy spending time with my family and discovering and learning new ways to live more fully. I also am a true believer in down time, so on occasion you will find me watching TV or lost in a loop of youtube videos.
