Who Am I?
Hello! I’m Nora, a Licensed Social Worker who works with children, adolescents, and adults. I approach therapy with a deep sense of empathy, from a foundation of liberation and a belief in everyone’s resilience. Reaching out for help can carry stigma, and I do my best to help each client leave their reservations at the door and dig into the process of creating a life worth living.
I specialize in working with:
- Kids as young as 7 who struggle with processing and feeling emotions
- Adolescents and adults managing life transitions, identity formation, anxiety, depression, and self-esteem
How I help
I support clients with mutual respect and unconditional positive regard. I’ll support you, validate you, challenge you to grow, and be someone you can trust to be vulnerable with. Each client needs a unique combination of approaches, so I draw on traditional talk therapy, CBT, DBT, ACT, psychodynamic practices, person-centered therapy, strengths-based work, mindfulness, and creative therapies. I see the therapeutic relationship as collaborative, so if there’s a modality you’re curious about that I haven’t listed, we can find ways to use it together. I often help people with anxiety, childhood trauma, and identity or self esteem struggles
What a session with me is like
I’ve been described as an upbeat, welcoming therapist who isn’t afraid to dig deeper. We’ll start with goal-setting to collaborate on our work, and those goals will guide treatment, but every session can look different. It’s important to me to stay flexible and make room for whatever’s weighing on you. Get comfortable, physically and emotionally, however that looks. You can expect me to be open, honest, non-judgmental, and trustworthy.
What I believe
I believe in the liberation of all people and approach each client as worthy of dignity, respect, empathy, and care. Identity matters, and intersectionality is essential to understanding our needs. The therapeutic relationship should be collaborative, and every person should have a say in their treatment.
A little more about me
Outside of work I love spending time with my partner, exploring Chicago’s neighborhoods, eating good food, and attending creative events. I love to craft and journal, and I’ve dipped my toes into knitting, pottery, painting, and writing. I’m a big fan of competition reality TV, so on any given day you might catch me watching old seasons of Survivor. I love comedy and have a background in writing and performance.
