Who Am I?

Hi, I’m Amy (she/her). I’m a therapist who works mostly with parents, caregivers, and anyone coping with stress, grief and trauma. I’m a perinatal mental health specialist. I want to hear your whole story. I’m here for all of it, the good stuff and the hard stuff. I’m a cis-gender, white woman. I’m married and I have two really funny kids

I love working with:

  • People dealing with pregnancy, loss or fertility challenges
  • New mamas coping with perinatal anxiety and/or depression
  • Stressed out parents of all kinds
  • People experiencing workplace burnout, compassion fatigue or secondary trauma
  • People experiencing grief, loss and medical trauma

Some of my favorite approaches include:

I use a humanistic-integrative approach to help you develop a strong and healthy sense of self, explore your feelings, find meaning, and focus on your strengths. ”Humanistic” means I trust that you are the expert on yourself and my job is to help you make sense of things. “Integrative” means using the strategies that work best for each individual, which could include building your capacity for self-compassion, challenging unhelpful thoughts and beliefs, practicing acceptance, storytelling, looking at relationship patterns, and always listening, reflecting and supporting.

HOW I HELP

Therapy with me is absolutely a collaboration. Our relationship is going to be genuine and real. It’s a space for you to tell your story, talk out your strengths and fears, and build your capacity for resilience. We’ll work together to figure out what kind of changes you want to see in your life and what’s getting in your way. I love talking about relationships and boundaries and helping you find and assert yours.

  • I believe therapy works best when therapists create a space where people can feel brave 
    enough and safe enough to be themselves.
  • I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the most important aspect of therapy.

What it’s like in a session with me

A session with me will feel like you’re with a friend who adores you but is also not afraid to challenge you, point out your patterns and habits, and ask the hard questions. There will be coffee. There might be snacks. We will laugh. We will probably cry. We will be real and authentic and ourselves, together.

More about me

I have two kids and they take up A LOT of my out-of-work time. I’m becoming an expert in complicated lego structures and Taylor Swift. I love to buy books (which is not the same hobby as reading books), I love to travel, and I’m hoping to complete a yoga teacher training program this year. It’s going to be really good to work together! See you soon!
