Family Therapy
When one part of the family is struggling, it affects everyone. Family therapy gives you a place to work through it together.
The problem usually isn't just one person. It's the pattern the whole family is stuck in together.
- Understanding the Dynamic
Something in the family dynamic isn’t working, and everyone can feel it.
Maybe it’s constant conflict. Maybe it’s a specific issue, a child’s behavior, a parent’s illness, a major transition, that’s straining how you all relate to each other.
Individual therapy for one person only goes so far when the whole system is affected.
Family therapy works with the relationships themselves, not just one person’s behavior in isolation.
- Why Choose Us
When You Come to Urban Wellness for Family Therapy
- You will work through conflict as a family, not just individually
- You will understand the roles and patterns that keep showing up
- You will build communication that actually works across generations
- You will address a specific crisis or ongoing tension with support for everyone involved
- You will work with a therapist trained in family systems, including parenting support
Who Benefits Most from Family Therapy
You will benefit if:
- Your relationships are strained and people around you are walking on eggshells
- You take frustration out physically because it's hard to express what you're actually feeling
- Your anger is showing up physically, in high blood pressure, fatigue, or body aches
- You hardly recognize the person you've become, and you want to feel like yourself again
- You want to be able to feel and express a full range of emotions in a healthy way
You might not be ready yet if:
- There's active abuse or a safety concern in the home.
- We can help connect you with resources built for that first.
If you're in crisis, we recommend outpatient services at a local program first. For substance concerns, see our Addiction page.
— we'll make sure you get the right support.
