Who Am I?
Hello! I’m Jessica (she/her/hers). I’m a Licensed Social Worker and therapist who works with teens, adults, couples, and families. Before I moved into full-time therapy, I worked at DCFS as a case worker, supervisor, and advocate, and I loved working in schools with youth and families providing approachable, affordable counseling. My space is welcoming, gender affirming, and gender inclusive. I’m passionate about generational patterns, working through trauma together, and advocating for queer youth and individuals. I’m a cis-gendered, gay, queer, white woman.
I specialize in working with:
- Teens and adults with anxiety and depression
- Young adults working through life’s transitions
- Adults and teens exploring their identities
- Couples, families, and chosen family
- Parents trying to understand their children
- The LGBTQIA+ community and queer individuals
- Trauma survivors
How I help
I believe in holistic therapy that brings in intention and mindfulness. I use talk therapy, trauma-informed work, CBT, psychoeducation, psychodynamic practices, mindfulness, person-centered therapy, and creative expression through art. I’m also growing my systems-therapy practice, since it aligns deeply with my values. I see every client as unique and tailor my approach to you.
I hold a strengths-based, multicultural, anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and socially just approach. Without liberation for all, there’s no liberation for any. I’m here to collaborate and help you grow to your fullest potential.
What a session with me is like
In the first few sessions we take time to get to know each other, because an authentic connection is what lets us do our best work, and that moves at a different pace for everyone. From there I support you with questions, intentional activities, and sometimes mindful homework. Bring your favorite drink or snack, I’ll definitely have a caffeinated beverage. Fidgets are welcome, I use them too. Wear what makes you feel most like you, as body adornment is gender affirming and important. You’re the expert on your life, and I welcome your take on what we explore.
What I believe
We all have the right to grow and learn who we are in safe ways. Where we come from and who we are matter in therapy. Healing looks different for everyone and is a constant exploration, so every journey is unique.
A little more about me
Outside of work I love spending time with my chosen family, whether that’s just being together or exploring new places. I come from a large family, and my siblings, nieces, and nephews mean the world to me. I moved to Chicago for school at 18 and never looked back. I love to read, go for walks, play sudoku, take a nap, and I’m a huge music lover. Bring all your opinions and hot takes, I’m here for it.
