ABOUT ME:

I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Edison Park who works with adults who are business owners or leaders. My areas of focus are burnout support and prevention, identity issues related to business ownership, relationship issues that come out as a result of entrepreneurship, and stress and overwork reduction for leaders.

At a glance

Best fit for: Entrepreneurs, business owners, and leaders dealing with burnout, relationship stress, identity shifts tied to ownership, and the general weight of running something. I also love working with LGBTQ and neurodivergent business owners looking for a therapist who gets it firsthand.

Approaches: CBT, DBT, EMDR, Gottman

Who Am I?

I’m Maureen Hermann, an LCPC, EMDR and Gottman certified. I mostly work with entrepreneurs, founders, and leaders, people who are used to holding everything together and rarely get a place to just be honest about how hard it is. My style is direct. I’m not going to nod along and reflect your feelings back to you for an hour. I’ll tell you what I’m noticing and we’ll work from there.

I specialize in working with:
  • Entrepreneurs and business owners navigating the stress of running something they built
  • Leaders burning out under the weight of always being “on”
  • People whose identity got tangled up with their business
  • Couples and partners dealing with the strain business ownership puts on a relationship
  • LGBTQ business owners and leaders
  • Neurodivergent business owners and leaders, especially those late diagnosed or still figuring out what that means for how they run things
How I help

My approach depends on what you actually need. Some of it is processing old stuff that’s driving current patterns. Some of it is very practical: how you’re relating to your business, your partner, your team, yourself. I’m trauma informed, so we go at a pace that makes sense for your nervous system. Working with me feels less like therapy-speak and more like talking to someone who’s going to be straight with you.

What a session with me is like

Sessions with me are conversational, and less clinical. Early sessions are mostly me getting the full picture of your life and your business, since for a lot of my clients those two things aren’t separate. After that, the pace picks up. I’ll push back when it’s useful and I won’t waste your time. We’ll process how old wounds impact you showing up how you’d like in life and in leadership, and action plan how to be aligned with how you show up in life.

What I believe

Therapy should help you feel better long term, not just for the hour. Healing and running a business aren’t separate projects. You can do both at once.

A little more about me

You can find me traveling to a new country each year, taking in the cultures, languages, and scenery. When I’m not traveling, I’m spending time with family and friends, reading smut and business books, watching binge-worthy TV, and trying to breathe in life and just experience it. Outside the owning Urban Wellness®, I’m also the founder of The Group Practice Exchange® and the author of The Accountability Equation®.

Your first session is about getting to know each other. You’ll talk through what brought you in and start shaping goals, at your pace. Your therapist will ask questions that help them understand your past and how it shapes you, your present concerns, and future goals.
