Who Am I?
Hello hello! My name is Tina, a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with emerging adults and adults. As a Chinese American, I know how hard it is to balance the expectations at home and in society while feeling responsible for more than just ourselves. Sometimes we push ourselves to keep going because we can’t afford to stop. As we figure out what’s in store for you, let’s look at all the options and celebrate the little wins along the way. I’m here to help you find direction and grow into a person you can appreciate and love.
I specialize in working with:
- Emerging Adults navigating anxiety, self-esteem, acculturation, coming of age, and school issues
- Individuals who live within two cultures
- Adults working through life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, family and relationship issues, stress, and work-life balance
- People navigating new environments and opportunities, balancing school, work, and life, acculturation, and new freedoms
- Individuals working on codependency, abandonment, shame, grief, career and work issues, and identity
How I help
I believe the therapeutic relationship is the foundation of meaningful change, so I prioritize building trust and connecting with you. Articulating feelings and navigating hard situations can be tough, which is why I create a calm, non-judgmental space where we can explore at your pace. It’s okay to stumble or experiment with words, that’s part of the process. I approach every situation with sensitivity and respect for your cultural background and experiences. You can expect me to use DBT, CBT, a multicultural approach, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness, and I’ll help bridge the gap between what your emotions are saying and what your brain is saying. I often help people with anxiety and trauma.
What a session with me is like
Feel free to lean back with your favorite beverage, because I’ll be holding my water bottle, eager to hear how you’re doing. I love hearing the little details, the things you noticed, felt, or even hesitated to share. Expect a few laughs, because therapy doesn’t always have to feel heavy, even when we’re talking about hard things. Sessions are a mix of reflection, exploration, and collaboration, and I’ll always be considerate of your pace while I gently challenge you and share what I’ve noticed. My hope is you leave each session a little lighter, more curious about yourself, and empowered to take steps toward the life you want.
What I believe
We’re made up of our values and experiences. Everyone is doing their best with what they have. And compassion and curiosity open doors for us to grow from the very things that once caused us pain.
A little more about me
Outside of work, you’ll find me taking walks with boba in hand, chatting with friends or family. I love being around people who energize me while doing something fun. I’m a huge fan of cozy video games and watching competitive gaming, which helps me stay connected to people far away and gives us something to laugh about. I have so many hobbies, like crochet and knitting, and I want to keep exploring everything the world has to offer.
