GET TO KNOW your therapist

Meagan McCarver, LCSW

Hello! My name is Meagan.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with individuals across the lifespan. I find great privilege when someone feels comfortable sharing their story with me and I hope that I can provide that safe space and comfortability to you too!

“Relationships are the agents of change and the most powerful therapy is human love.”

Bruce D. Perry

I have had experience in all levels of behavioral health care so I can best understand what level of care that you need. I have found outpatient therapy so rewarding because of the fact that I can build relationships weekly and potentially see my clients for weeks, months, or even years!

I think there is a huge importance of learning how to emotionally identify how we feel and focus on regulating your body when  challenging emotions or situations arise. In therapy, I like to provide space for skill building and mindfulness to help clients learn and practice coping.

I enjoy working with children and adolescents dealing with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, behavioral challenges, and dealing with all the stressors of growing up. I can totally relate to the internal pressure we can put onto ourselves, however I like to give reminders of how we can be more patient and kind to ourselves.

I love working with parents and providing parent coaching too! I know it can be challenging carrying for your child and not knowing the right things to say or do. Don’t worry – I would be happy to set up a time where we can discuss helpful ways to communicate and practice skills with your child. I think it’s crucial to involve an individuals’ support system in care so know how to best support someone at home, school, or in the community.

I enjoy working with adults dealing with life transitions, family discord, and relationship issues. It can be challenging growing up and dealing with the stress of work, relationships, and finding our own way. I like to use a holistic lens in therapy whether that may be helping you emotionally, physically, and/or spiritually in your life. I think it’s worthwhile reflecting on your values and how you are expressing your best self in your daily life.

I received a Bachelors of Social Work from Valparaiso University and a Masters of Social Work from Loyola University of Chicago. I am licensed to practice in the State of Illinois. I have received trainings in the following treatment modalities:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Dialectal Behavioral Therapy
  • Unified Protocol

I am currently accepting new clients at this time and invite you to connect with our Intake Team via email or phone to schedule an appointment! I am looking forward to connecting with you soon! :)
