Hi! I’m Melissa Barrios. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Domestic Violence Professional but you can also call me a passionate feminist, feisty Latina, strong advocate, hype girl, nonjudgmental listener, and holistic healer.
One of my favorite quotes is “She believed she could, so she did”. I strongly believe that we are all capable of anything we set our minds to as long as we are well supported, empowered, and heard. I work with adults across the lifespan but particularly enjoy working with young adults and POC. As a first generation student and American, I can wholeheartedly understand adulting struggles on various levels.

We all face everyday bullsh*t. Whether you’re going through a major life change, challenges with family members, relationship issues, a breakup, anxiety, depression, or a stressful job I can offer a comfortable, nonjudgmental, and safe environment where you can be your authentic self and discuss these challenges freely. My goal is to support you on your journey in being the best version of yourself.
I like to use my training in psychotherapy, mindfulness, meditation, and reiki healing fluidly to facilitate this process as there is no such thing as a one size fits all approach in therapy. One minute we can be identifying, understanding, and processing automatic or emotion driven thoughts or the next minute we can be doing breathing exercises, writing positive affirmations, doing some positive self-talk, or challenging negative thoughts.

During my free time you can find me spending time with family and friends, playing with my cats (Potato and Frijolito), going to concerts, attending different food or music festivals (because music and food give me lifeee), binge watching shows on Netflix or Hulu, going for a bike ride, pretending I know what I am doing at the gym, writing, practicing breath work, adding to my crystal collection, or using my oracle cards.
